“Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

As iron sharpens iron, let's encourage each other on this journey of interrupted writing and faith.

Who We Are!

We're Christian writers who love the Lord, believe Jesus is the only Savior, and serve him whole heartily. We're men and women, learning from each other, and growing in our craft and Christian faith as we pursue publication.

We're parents, spouses, caregivers, and employees whose writing is interrupted by daily tasks.

Picture 005

We're learning to be content in this season God has called us to and honor him in everything we do.

If you feel you're a kindred spirit, then you're welcome to join our community!

Community Guidelines

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians4:8 NAS

I want this community to be a safe place for us to share our faith and writing experiences. I don't want it to become just another place to promote ourselves. So I'm asking that we keep the community clean, focused, on topic, and free from mass emailing for self promotion. People who stray from these guidelines will be removed.

(And unfortunately I have no control over the Google Ads:)

Author/New Release Spotlight

Do you have a release coming up? Did you receive an honor or get a new writing gig? Let me know and we'd love to high light you!

Fatal Illusions

Gillian Thayer’s calligraphy business helps to keep her mind off two small headstones in the cemetery. Still healing from the death of her twins during birth, Gillian absorbs another emotional blow when she finds a love letter addressed to her husband Marc, a pastor and counselor. But before Gillian can confront him, a gunshot shatters her already fragile world. Forced to leave Chicago, they escape the eye of the media and seek refuge in a historic lighthouse on Lake Superior near the tiny town of Newberry, Michigan. But they are not the only new arrivals looking for a place to lay low. Haydon Owens, an amateur magician and accomplished killer, has also come to Newberry hoping to start a new life, but he isn’t there long before he spots another potential victim. For more infor. go to http://www.adamblumerbooks.com/books/.

Advance Praise for Fatal Illusions

“Fatal Illusions is an engaging, fast-paced read with a captivating storyline that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let go. Adam Blumer has skillfully weaved the threads of grace, mercy, and forgiveness into this compelling suspense novel.”
—Mark Mynheir, homicide detective and author of The Night Watchman

“In Fatal Illusions, Adam Blumer has crafted a page turner with characters that capture the imagination and a gripping plot from the first paragraph to the final sentence. An awesome ride!”
—Rosey Dow, Christy Award-winning author of Reaping the Whirlwind

“Magic in the hands of a diabolical madman proves deadly as he terrorizes a pastor’s family. Will their faith vanish when they need it most? Set against the backdrop of Lake Superior’s magnificent shores, Fatal Illusions is chilling, action-packed suspense that will keep readers moored right up until the very last page!”
—Andrea Boeshaar, author and speaker

“Every now and then I find an author whose voice I immediately fall in love with. Adam Blumer is one of those authors. With characters I could identify with, a killer who had me looking over my shoulder, and an ending full of twists and surprises . . . just like that, I’m an Adam Blumer fan!”
—Mike Dellosso, author of The Hunted and Scream

A Nugget of Truth in a Pile of….Well, You Know

My husband and I had a “discussion” of sorts last week. The subject was my failings in one particular area. And oh, how I hate those kinds of discussions! I sputter. I defend. I attack. I pout. I sulk. And about three days later, I finally decided to actually think about what [...]

Worship

I woke up this morning with a need for worship.  I was dry, but I knew He would fill me.  Anxious fingers grasped my Bible, but I felt the call to worship with music.  As the first few notes played, my heart quickened and called out to Him.  I need you.  I took a deep [...]

Writing Lessons from the Mini-Marathon

Saturday I ran the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon and being me, I looked for lessons and principles. One thing I’ve learned is that little in my life ever falls in one category. God often uses lessons from one to teach me principles that can be applied in other areas. Here are a few I extrapolated out as [...]

The Crafting of a Life

We all know people who don’t get excited about books. Their heart rates flatline at words and margins. Or maybe they do enjoy reading, but have no idea what blood, sweat, and tears go into crafting an opening sentence designed to grab that elusive commodity–an editor’s second glance. Storytelling, it’s what we writers appreciate best. Discovering [...]

Calling All Prodigals

Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need… – Luke 15:13-14  There’s no doubt about it, this economy [...]

What Does It Mean?

What does it mean to abide?
What does it mean to live Your life?
What does it mean with You inside?
What does it mean to live the Sacrifice?

When I read Your words of red,
it’s right there that I must pray.
Something in me falls as dead.
It’s my desire that Your truth stays.

I clutch Your wisdom ‘til my fingers bleed
A wound that will not heal, but my heart it feels.
It’s my hope the truth will set me free.
I hope tomorrow that I will see.

Grace for my iniquity.
I pray ‘gainst profanity

Soon

Soon will come the time
when shadows will fall away.
When life refuses to die,
we’ll have what we pray.

Sums of souls will be reached.
He has met His quota.
Sermons will ceased to be preached.
All things will be over.

Come, O Lord, and be the Light.
Be the reason we remain.
Grant us, Lord, what is our right,
given through Your name.

Let us delight in time’s end,
for we’ll not end with it.
Let us see Him who will rend
the things that broke our spirits.

Our heart’s ache will be heard,

God is not...

God is not...
operating a "disaster control center"
from his throne of the universe

He is not trying to "pick up the pieces"
of a totally unexpected tragedy
that he never saw coming

He is not trying to "figure out" a way
to somehow to get things back
to being as good as they once were

He is not
trying to "figure out" a way to out smart Satan-

and he is not "falling behind" numerically
as far as how many will be saved
and how many will be lost

God has a plan,
and he is working out that plan… Continue

The FIREMAN...

The FIREMAN...

I teach that Jesus Christ
is the Saviour of the world-

and that he can not be
SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD-
and not
SAVE THE ENTIRE WORLD

I get replies that Christ
can be the Saviour of the world,
and yet
NOT SAVE THE ENTIRE WORLD

They give me this type of proof:

When a fireman goes into a burning building to save trapped people,
what happens if these trapped people refuse to be saved?

Is the fireman not still a fireman
simply because some do not wish to be saved?

Here we see the f… Continue

OUTSIDE THE WINDOW

While looking outside the window:
Watch the flowers grow.

While looking outside the window:
Listen to the daily sounds surround.

While looking outside the window:
Watch the people come and go.

While looking outside the window:
Let your imagination flow.

While looking outside the window:
Watch all the short stories start to grow.

Edge

Wrap Yourself in my breath,
in the prayers I breathe.
Wrap Your Spirit in my flesh.
You promised You won’t leave.

I’ll be here, on the edge,
on this plane of Time.
Keep this life that I pledge.
Say to me, “Your mine!”

With frail stance, I stand on peace,
through the Grace You give.
Though I fail to trust with ease,
You still tell me to live.

Please forgive my heart’s spittle.
You know my spirit’s frame.
My life and soul is O so brittle,
hanging on Your Name.

Hang I must above this dust.

Break

Break my heart, and give me joy.
Make me blind that I may see.
I know nothing, ‘til I know You.
There I will live when I die.

Open my heart, close me to the world.
Be the One thing that I see.
I want nothing unless it’s You.
I hate my life and want the love.

Grant me the heart
that forms the words, giving voice
to the hearts of my brothers and sisters.

For this, break my own heart.

Find Me Weak

Here I am at the end of self,
with questions left unanswered.
I’m brought down to my own hell,
dying of my cancer.

There’s nothing in me to desire.
I’m a simple broken twig.
Dry and done, I hate the fire,
the small that needs the big.

Let Your strength find me weak.
Begin the death and I will live.
Let Your breath be what I seek.
I’ve nothing else to give.

Be the Face I find in a crowd,
the Friend who hails my name.
My response will be so loud,
decibels declaring Your fame.

I’m the end, but… Continue
