“Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

As iron sharpens iron, let's encourage each other on this journey of interrupted writing and faith.

Who We Are!

We're Christian writers who love the Lord, believe Jesus is the only Savior, and serve him whole heartily. We're men and women, learning from each other, and growing in our craft and Christian faith as we pursue publication.

We're parents, spouses, caregivers, and employees whose writing is interrupted by daily tasks.

Picture 005

We're learning to be content in this season God has called us to and honor him in everything we do.

If you feel you're a kindred spirit, then you're welcome to join our community!

Community Guidelines

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians4:8 NAS

I want this community to be a safe place for us to share our faith and writing experiences. I don't want it to become just another place to promote ourselves. So I'm asking that we keep the community clean, focused, on topic, and free from mass emailing for self promotion. People who stray from these guidelines will be removed.

(And unfortunately I have no control over the Google Ads:)

A Nugget of Truth in a Pile of….Well, You Know

My husband and I had a “discussion” of sorts last week. The subject was my failings in one particular area. And oh, how I hate those kinds of discussions! I sputter. I defend. I attack. I pout. I sulk. And about three days later, I finally decided to actually think about what [...]

Worship

I woke up this morning with a need for worship.  I was dry, but I knew He would fill me.  Anxious fingers grasped my Bible, but I felt the call to worship with music.  As the first few notes played, my heart quickened and called out to Him.  I need you.  I took a deep [...]

Writing Lessons from the Mini-Marathon

Saturday I ran the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon and being me, I looked for lessons and principles. One thing I’ve learned is that little in my life ever falls in one category. God often uses lessons from one to teach me principles that can be applied in other areas. Here are a few I extrapolated out as [...]

The Crafting of a Life

We all know people who don’t get excited about books. Their heart rates flatline at words and margins. Or maybe they do enjoy reading, but have no idea what blood, sweat, and tears go into crafting an opening sentence designed to grab that elusive commodity–an editor’s second glance. Storytelling, it’s what we writers appreciate best. Discovering [...]

Poller Update Oct. /Nov., 2009

Since my recent blessing of being a reporter on “The Examiner.com (I’m not suppose to use the “first person”), I still can let you know how God is continuing to bless the Poller family through a Blog.
It has been rough over the past 25 months, but we had to depend solely upon God and His faithfulness to bring us out from under and over some steep mountains.

Let’s begin with going to chur… Continue

A Place of Refuge

“This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us],” Hebrews 6:18, AMP.

Refuge is a shelter from danger or trouble; a safe place. God is our refuge! He is our place of shelter in the midst of storms. When we experience troubling tim… Continue

The Veil

“But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty,” 2 Corinthians 3:14-17, KJV.

A Fool's Heart

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good,” Psalm 53:1, KJV.

A fool is defined as one who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding. They lack the sense to discern spiritual things. “But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he isContinue

Poem: Outside the Windy City

Outside the Windy City
lives the Lady Finnegan -
Carol dearly loves the Lord Jehovah
and is a part of His earthly plan.

Her heart has been pierced
by God's Holy Spirit;
for she placed her life before Him
and has chosen to submit.

Her adoration for the King
has burst forth with heart's joy,
from reading her great nephew's literature
within the borders of Illinois.

Now she's become God's messenger
via her gifts of Joe's Christian poetry -
For the fragrance of God's Love
envelopes her with scrip… Continue

OH NO...YOU HAVE ONE SIN YOU FORGOT TO PRAY FOR

OH NO...YOU HAVE ONE SIN YOU FORGOT TO PRAY FOR

Can you enter Heaven,
if you do not pray for forgiveness of your sins?

Can you enter Heaven
if you failed to pray for one single sin?

Have you ever been told:
You do the best you can...
and Jesus picks up the slack?

Do you think,
that you would go to heaven....

if you happened to die on a very "lucky day"
when your faith was very strong?

OR

Do you think, that you would go to hell....

if you happened to die
on a very "unlucky day"
when your… Continue

FAITH: Here, There and Everywhere

By cherylblemine

Here. There. Everywhere.

I frequently find myself in these locations. I don’t usually plan it – you know, it just happens. Well, not always. And no, if my friends were jumping off a cliff, I wouldn’t be joining them.

I do, however, come precariously close to employing that “follower” mentality when I continually find myself – you know – here, there and everywhere (henceforth known as HTE.)

There have been times I went elsewhere. When I did, it made the difference between:… Continue

It’s All in Fun

“Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,” Philippians 4:5-7, KJV.

The Lord is at hand... This passage of scripture is very timely and so needed. As people get ready for Halloween, preparing like it’s their birthday, I rest in th… Continue

Playing with Fire: The Truth Behind Halloween

“Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience,” Ephesians 5:6, KJV.

As we approach Halloween, there are many advertisements on television, in the newspapers, and online, pumping our minds filled with demonic glory. Many don’t see it this way, but that’s exactly what is happening. There are gory movies and ghostly costumes competing for our attention to succumb to the upcoming event. I say event because there… Continue

Excuses To God?

I’m sure you’ve never made any excuses to God about why you can’t do something that you know you’re supposed to be doing. For the last few days I’ve been thinking about Moses a lot. You know, one of the residents of the “Great Cloud of Witnesses” who brought the Israelites out of Egypt at God’s request? I have always identified with Moses. He made a lot of excuses to God about why he couldn’t do what He was asking him to do.

In Numbers 3:10 God said to Moses, “So now, go. I am sending you to Ph… Continue

Be Not Deceived: a look at Freemasonry

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour…,” 1 Peter 5:8, KJV.

Continuing with the post from yesterday where I touched on Greek Lettered Organizations (GLOs), I now offer information about Freemasonry—another fraternal organization (noted linked organization, Eastern Stars). Now, if you know anything about Freemasonry or someone who is a mason, then you’re aware that they are very secretive. I did not know as mu… Continue

Be Not Deceived: a look at fraternities and sororities

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil,” Romans 16:17-19, KJV.

Not Against Flesh and Blood

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places,” Ephesians 6:12, KJV

Today, yesterday, and forever, Jesus Christ is the same. He is our strength, our power, our help in any time of need. As we live in this world, we are not to be of this world, but are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Once we have grasped the concept of why we were created… Continue
